The catch? Occasionally handling dangerous magical artifacts, watching things that are very boring until they really really aren't, and having a secret that would guarantee you will be the coolest person around, except you can't tell anyone. Also, MiBs occasionally pester you.
On the plus side, most wizards, sorcerers, witches and the like all over the world tend to react well toward you, and most major cities (and some not-so-major cities and towns) have a Shadowlight League presence, so you have a safe place to stay/hide out if you need it...

They actually have excellent health coverage, and if magical badness happens to you, they will do whatever they can for you...

Just so we're clear, the main job of the Shadowlight League these days is the protection (and possible training and employment) of magical types (wizards, sorcerers, and the like). They also investigate esoteric, occult, and paranormal things.
Also, at every point, Mercy has made sure that Ghoul is with her willingly.
