@ lirv: Only someone completely insane would use what you refer to as "miraculous travel" all willy-nilly. You are right about the dangers, even with the compensation inherent in magic.
You are far less likely to miss the Earth (as there is a sort of "centering" effect) and more likely to "miss your exit" (hence the incinerator reference) or attract the attention of things that you don't really want to attract the attention of...
Of course, there is a greater than zero percent chance that you miss our wonderful ball of mud entirely if you are not careful.

@ Delta: Despite said "influence", I assure you that, should the story call for Sophie to look like a fool, she will look like a fool. There are no Mary-Sues in Autumn Bay (unless we name a character Mary-Sue for some reason, but that's a whole different kettle of fish).

Thing is, there is a greater than 0% chance of ending up in the Emerald City if you follow the blue aether road...
Or, you know, anywhere else. There is a reason that say, Mercy for example, doesn't use this method. Sophie is very skilled in these matters, and it scares her to do this.

In general, dimensional things are within Sophie's skill set. We'll see more of this sort of thing from her at a later date...
