First of all, Merry Christmas, everyone!

Here we get a little glimpse (and I do mean little) of what Dr. Sandros saw at the end of Season One.

Also, that version of Dr. Nestor comes from an amazing design by Call Me Tom (you can find the original here (as part of 30 Days of Characters).

Also, interesting times ahead for Captain Jack Bishop...

(Some of you, who read the first version of Autumn Bay, may have seen this transformation coming. Some of you may even have been looking forward to it. I hope we don't lose any of you over what's happening here. We promise that Bishop's part of the story is not going to be some sort of fetish or simply for laughs.)

Yes, that is exactly what he wanted for Christmas...

No, Chaos is a terrible Santa Claus. :P

Oh, poor Jack Bishop...
This is like how in superhero comics there are often pivotal origin story beats or other iconic moments that tend get carried over to all other adaptions...

Yes. Quite right.

This was a story that never quite got its due in the original version. And this is one of a few beats that has recurred (or will).

I imagine that there are few alternate timelines where Bishop isn’t straight up DEAD by this point in his troubled life. He seems to be a character destined for woe...

He is decidedly made to suffer. That being said, he is quite strong, if not (currently) physically, at least psychically.

Speaking of alternate timelines, I also believe I detect a forking in the narrative of this (as opposed to the previous) reality. A different way of achieving the same result, perhaps? ^^

As far as horrific sights go, Mercy saw the same bug, and SHE didn't go Looney Tunes. Sandros isn't as impressive as he thinks he is. :)

The previous narrative was flawed, but there were some beats we still want to hit. This is one of them.

(For one, I mishandled Nesariel in the first go-round. I was also winging it a lot more that time. Soph keeps my eye on the ball and my evil in check, and we therefor deliver a better, more focused narrative. Oh, and no crossover tangents this time.)

I'll let you in on a little secret: one of the differences between a normal human (which Sandros at least was) and a sorcerer / adept is in their ability to handle things that, according to consensus "reality", shouldn't be. After all, they are capable of causing things that shouldn't happen.

At some level, perhaps Sandros realizes he isn't that impressive, and that causes him to do some of the things he does (beating the crap out of Benny, picking apart the team while they can't do anything to him...). Basically, he's just a bully. But a bully who presently has the keys to reality (or something like that).

So you're saying he's a metaphor for your orangutan-in-chief?

(With all apologies to orangutans everywhere for this comparison. Just commenting on the "orangeness" of the sub-primate-in-question...)

Hahahahahaha...

Not what we were going for, but it strangely works.

Now we just need to have Chaos launch into a Twitter tirade when things don't go his way...

He saw the worst of everything.

Too bad he didn't stop to see and understand the best of everything (humanity included).

At least Nessie is innocent this time, haha.

Yes, it seems like this is destined to happen every time...

One of the problems with the first version was that I messed up on the portrayal of Nesariel. He was way too "known", and his plans seemed way too... badguyish. Plus, he was WAY too hands-on in that version.

I still wanted to tell Bishop's story, and Chaos turned out to be the best instigator in this version.
