Let me run it down for you.
Mercy is an experienced investigator into things which, according to most normal people, really shouldn't be. This means her will, which is already strong due to her being a sorcerer, is hardened (already lacking some Sanity Points or gets a bonus to her Fright Check / Will Save). Add to that the current connection to Ghoul (who is soaking up some of the horror, even if he doesn't know it), and the fact that she is engaged in battle already (and is, therefore, pumping adrenaline). Thus, she is able to face down an eldritch monstrosity which has already claimed the sanity of one person that we know of and still quip and banter.

Also, Season One will be ending on 23 September 2016. After that, we will be taking a bit of a break to rebuild the buffer and get Season Two up and running (and do a little maintenance on various parts of the site).
