Professor Etheric
Sometimes Mercy is more than a name...

For reference, Crawford Tillinghast is a character from H.P. Lovecraft's "From Beyond".

Also, Sophie is kind of an expert on alternate realities. Mercy is more concerned with her own reality.

That poster comes to us courtesy of lirvilas, producer of Winners and Losers and MSV. He produced it in response to one of our 30 Days of Characters entries, April Anne Price, who is also a member of the Children of Gaea coven (which is, or course, currently missing three of its members. April Anne is also Sophie's BFF.

I was hoping Nestor was going to be a long-eared donkey. Someone who studies alternate universes is even better, though!

Also, did the cult really have a sign on the front of their building proclaiming that it was the base of a cult?
Professor Etheric 21st Jun 2016, 11:19 PM edit delete reply
Professor Etheric
Religious freedom. It's not common knowledge that they are an evil cult. Most people tend to think they're just some New Age weirdos...

Ah, so they pretty much think it's like a Dianetics building, then.
Professor Etheric 21st Jun 2016, 11:26 PM edit delete reply
Professor Etheric
Something like that, yes.

Contextual density increasing: Takira, the AK-47 of disillusioned IT employees and fly-by-night hackers. Can't wait to see one of those bad boys used in anger.

(All your other characters aside--talking about you, Bish--I'm missing me some Falchionne.)

All in service of building the world, sir.

We are currently in talks re: who's appearing when. Your interest is duly noted. :)

I'm missing me some rich-guy's purple-haired daughter and her former lover/best friend...

(No names, no pack drill)...

Noted!

So did the bearded guy turn Pastafarian? :)

Mercy's shades, are her eyes still glowing or is that just a reflection?
Professor Etheric 22nd Jun 2016, 1:55 AM edit delete reply
Professor Etheric
Pastafarian, Discordian, Subgenius, Gardnerian Wiccan, Unitarian, Buddhist, Catholic... ANYTHING other than Starry Wisdom.

That is a reflection. The glow would be more blue and leaking out of the sunglasses. :)

A physicist... studying parachronisms... in the 1920s?!?

Even though I'm still working I think I need to take two shots of Jaegermeister now.
Professor Etheric 22nd Jun 2016, 10:42 AM edit delete reply
Professor Etheric
Lovecraft had characters looking outside of our reality by way of science in that time, so yeah, it's fair game. :)
anonymous coward 22nd Jun 2016, 3:06 PM edit delete reply
Oh, well, if you're going to be drinking that deep from the well of Lovecraft all I can say is that I'll be expecting something special when it comes time for the alien geometries.

Professor Etheric
Have you heard about our new anageometric aperture foundries?

Our technobabble is purposeful.
anonymous coward 22nd Jun 2016, 8:27 PM edit delete reply
Yes, that was the title, that was what they were working on, but I didn't see any angles and intersections breaking my sanity there. C'mon, you can do better than that, I passed my SAN check without even needing to roll on that one.

How do you determine which is "Mercy's Stuff" and "Sophie's Stuff"?

Ah, maybe I wouldn't want to know...
Professor Etheric 22nd Jun 2016, 10:46 AM edit delete reply
Professor Etheric
Sophie has more experience with dimensions, intelligence gathering, and research.

Mercy is a field agent, and more experienced with fighting, action, and interrogation.

"Is the phrase small joint manipulation applicable?"

If yes: Mercy's stuff.
Professor Etheric 22nd Jun 2016, 8:35 PM edit delete reply
Professor Etheric
Yes. :)

"Alternate realities", as in "parallel universes", "divergent timelines", et cetera?? Oooh, that always gets interesting...
Professor Etheric 22nd Jun 2016, 10:46 AM edit delete reply
Professor Etheric
Those exactly, as well as "non-reality" and such!

Hehe, that poster.:D
Ohhhh I do adore me some alternate realities! >D
Professor Etheric 22nd Jun 2016, 10:48 AM edit delete reply

I also love the poster! :)

Well, it's not like I have any experience with such things...

Sounds like the story's about to pass the wheel. This should be interesting.
Professor Etheric 23rd Jun 2016, 11:22 PM edit delete reply
Professor Etheric
Less "pass the wheel" and more "everybody get in the friggin' car!"

It must be nice to have a Sophie... Seems convenient.
Professor Etheric 23rd Jun 2016, 11:24 PM edit delete reply
Professor Etheric
She IS terribly convenient. And if the proper magical weirdness occurs, EVERYONE can have one! :D

Well everything can't be a "Mercy-thing" now can it? xD
Professor Etheric 26th Jun 2016, 4:38 PM edit delete reply

No. She's good, but she's still human.

Mercy's expression in the last panel is great! And the 1920s, huh? He's gotta be very very very old!

Professor Etheric
Thanks!

And yes he is...
